COURSE DESCRIPTION — Adobe Photoshop CC is the world standard image editing software application that has an intimidating reputation of incredible complexity and impenetrable depth. It hasn’t always been that way, and there’s no reason for that myth to exist today because Photoshop can be learned as being an integral part of a much greater workflow. If you are a proficient Adobe Lightroom user that’s been wondering about what the next step in your software life needs to be, then this workshop is for you!
Since its first release in 1990, Photoshop grew exponentially from being a rather exclusive application for digital photographers to what now robustly serves animators, designers, videographers, web developers, and numerous other users. In this weekend-intensive workshop we will discover and utilize Photoshop as photographers do, to make it a powerful part of an image edit & composite workflow; and then kick that intimidation factor aside.
This three-day, hands-on course features photo imaging software workflow that’s designed for beginning- to intermediate-skill levels. Participants benefit the most by bringing confident computer hardware and software literacy skills and proficiencies, in addition to basic Digital Single Lens Reflex [DSLR] and/or Mirrorless, Micro-Four-Thirds [MFT] camera operation skills, and Camera RAW workflow. To successfully complete the course, participants are required to bring a portable computer with adequate storage capacity on board that supports the installation and operation of the most current version of Adobe Photoshop CC.
The instructor presents several demonstrations and participants engage in a wide range of creative, image processing techniques. Perhaps more importantly, we garner a command of Photoshop architecture and the use of its several tools and their behaviors. The depth of the application is revealed in image layers, adjustment layers, and non-destructive masking that makes very precise, local modifications of density, contrast, color, and other image attributes possible. By the end of the workshop we explore advanced image compositing methods that enable constructions to extend personal vision far beyond the boundaries of a camera frame.
